Does anyone know how easy or complicated it will be for a Czech friend to receive a small gift package from the US? Will my friend have to pay customs duties, fees, etc? Is it worth the hassle of mailing gifts to someone the Czech Republic? Thanks.
Mám pocit, že to bude velmi drahé poslát poštou starověké obrnění, ale nepochybně si to tvůj přítel ocení.
Write "Gift" on the parcel, then it should not be opened by customs and your friend should have it quickly and for free. Should...
Leda to poslat jako "šrot" - a uvést cenu surového železa Případně rozdělit na šroubky a poslat jednotlivě...
I don't know if it's the same when I ship packages to Canada, but on the customs form I put a "gift" and they don't pay anything extra.
Two times I had something totally useless for anyone else ie.program/CD for my laptop usefull only for my old model...... and it never arrived. It was stolen. This made me very angry as I have already paid for it by charge card. When I talked to postman about it, he said that unless it is mailed "REGISTERED" i.e. traced right into persons hands, there is no way I can complain to anyone and aparently those who steal are taking advantage of this situation.
rsalc~ I've mailed and recieved several packages from/to Cz Rep. and they have all been received with no extra charge or cost. (I'm also in Florida!) I just go to the post office, fill out a customs type of form, list the contents (ie. gift) and it's worth, pay the cost of shipping and everything is good. It takes about 10 days to get there from Florida.
I am happy to report that I mailed the package to my friend in CR. He received a notification from the post office and had to go there to pick it up. So he received it safely and with no problems! (I was afraid that some postman/mailman would steal the package after reading one of the posts here. Luckily, my friend received the package and all is well) 8)
I'm not had to send to Czech Republic, just to UK and Iraq. I sent some cds, cigarettes and a nitro rc car in one of the packages and it on;y cost about $16. They just ask you whats in the package, no biggy. Good luck!
