Hopefully someone can help me. I'm trying to send letters to canada and the usa, however the post office here in Olomouc is very confusing and of course everything is in czech :? One of my czech co-workers today wrote me out a list of possible words to look for on the machine that you get your number from. Today was my second visit in and I still couldn't figure out what number to press to get the right ticket to line up at the right window. I tried asking two different people today and they didn't speak a word of english. Every time I go in the lines are really long so I don't want to risk just taking any ticket and going to the wrong window and having to line up in a different one. If anyone has any advice for me it would be greatly appreciated.
If you want to send only ordinary letter, you can just throw it into post box with stamps with value by this table
Well, at post office... Which doesn't solve your problem But in some tabbaco shops and news stands, too. Maybe you could write down texts on the number machine and post them here and we will translate them for you.
Actually, in somes they still do. It's not very profitable and there is complicated paperwork, so it's mostly in touristic areas.
And almost never they have stamps for abroad. Anyway, you can arrange it with multiples of normal stamps which are 7,50 CZK. So two of them fit for a letter under 20 g, three of them for a letter under 50 g.
I have mailed letters before from the Olomouc post office to Canada, but I forget which number I used. So, I'm not much help.
Thank you everyone for all your help. I finally figured it, a co-worker came to the post office with me and she helped me out. I'm now able to send mail!
