    Ahoj!
I'm going to Calgary, Alberta and driving through Indiana & Virginia this summer and was wondering if there was any czech bakery's relatively near any of those places before i go back to AK!

Well, if you cut through eastern Iowa before or After Inidana, there is the best Czech bakery in the world in Cedear Rapids, Iowa -- better than anything in Czechia, guaranteed! At least for kolaches, and something they call 'Bohemian Hamburgers' Puffy, full of rich bread scent, and topped with anything you want. Sykora Bakery, 16th Avenue South West. Just ask anyone where the Czech Village is. Just across the street is a great place for great jelita and fair (not spicey enough for me) jaternice. Both are the only businesses left over from the early days of Czech-Iowa immigration 1903 and 1931. Check them both out on the internet. http://www.polehnas.com and http://www.sykorabakery.com. Also a great gateway to links is the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library in the Czech Village: http://www.ncsml.org/

The above link for Sykora Bakery does not work for me, you may want to try this one.
