Hello, My wife and I are moving to Prague in 6 weeks and will be staying in District 9. I don't know much about the city or districts and was wondering if anyone had some info on district 9. What is it like? What is there to do? How far from the center of town is it? Anything would be helpful! Thanks, Luke[/b]
generally, prague 9 is considered to be more of the industrial appearance... anyway, it is well conected to the city centre (subway line B, trams). as for its location, maybe http://www.czso.cz/xa/redakce.nsf/i/8E892C132A3142AFC1256F3500513485/$File/p_57.JPG this link to scheme will work. (take a look on a regular map of prague then.)
Thanks for the info and maps, very helpful. About how far from the town center is praha 9, via bus or subway?
Hi, Luke - I lived in dist. 9 about 10 years ago, so my experience might be out of date - it is pretty industrial, but there were also tastes of rural life - all of my neighbors had little fenced in yards (my family had a little pond in back), and even one of my neighbors had a delightful rooster directly outside my bedroom window (dripping with sarcasm) - I also remember being able to go for long bike rides out on the edge of town in the countryside which was nice. Like I said, I am not sure how it is now, but I really got two worlds while living in 9 because on one hand it was like a little industrial town where we could go watch volleyball games, etc or jump on the subway and be in the city centre
Thanks Leah, The info was helpful. How long did you live in Prague for? What made you decide to leave?
I was an exchange student in high school, and that lasts for 1 year - I am looking forward to (and getting nervous about) moving to the Czech Rep in a little over a year
