I love Prague in december it is a nice time to go. I hope it snows for you because Prague is beautiful under the snow. And I do think the Christmas markets start setting up in the begining of december although I am not onehundred percent. Don't miss the svarak (hot spiced wine),

Thanks Tamara - i really hope it snows too. i was lucky enough for the snow to be still lying last time i was there. i only had the hot wine once when we visited the castle but it was amazing - heats you up like nothing else! cross fingers i will get to see the markets...

    Hi,
Relishing in the amazing architecture of Prague laden with snow is a unique experience. The impression is vastly different from that you would be exposed in the warmer months.
The christmas markets are somewhat underrated, with an abundance of unqiue celebratory articles and miscellaneous goods alike. However, if it is christmas decorations that you seek, Munich can't be beat! So if you get the chance to hop over there, you won't regret it.

I think, here it won't be a lot of snow, this winter may be "warm" as other last winters. The weather cycle here changed (in the time of floods in the last 1990s) to the period "colder & wetter summers and warmer & dryer winters" (I heard this period should last 50 years). However I haven't verified this information, so hope I'm wrong ;)

    Hi Kirsten,

I've been looking at going at the same time, check out this link: pragueexperience.com/events/highlights/christmas_markets.asp

The markets start at the beginning of December and run right through to the end of the month - St Nicolas Day (Mikulas day) is celebrated on the 5th December.

I went to the Christmas markets in Vienna two years ago and they were absolutely amazing, together with the beautiful churches and buildings it was a fab time. I imagine Prague will be similar.

    Hi Kirsten,

You can read about what Prague is like in early December in the Prague Christmas section here on My Czech Republic. You'll also find information about Prague Christmas markets there along with a calendar of Christmas-related events that happen from mid November through Christmas holidays.

    Enjoy your trip!
