    Well for safety... Czech Republic.
And for other factors... Czech Republic.
I never felt safe when I was in Jo'burg in 2003, I stayed in the Indaba Hotel which was heavily fortified (armed guards, electric fences, all the works..) and yet, the hotel was ALSO in the "secure" enclave of Sandton. As a basis, this does not portray much in terms of safety.
South Africa is no doubt a haven of natural beauty, but the all to common racially instigated violence would be too much for me, let alone many others.
In fact, my friend (who formerly lived in RSA, but now New Zealand) said her decision to emigrate came after her friend was driving along a main Jo'burg highway just near the airport. She was literally rammed off the road by a car behind, her car deviating into the median ditch. Then (according to police reports) she was shot by one of the occupants in the car behind. These scum did not know her, they only shot her for one reason... she was white. :(

    Hi

Yeah, sure South Africa has a lot of negatives, but it also has many positives! The way I look at South Africa (being a South African who has lived in several countries in Asia, N America and Europe) is that it is similar to the old American Wild West. It can be a dangerous place to live, although I was never a victim of any sorts in the 20+ years I lived there. The stats look bad especially Aids and crime and it is a developing country. However, if you are educated and have a desire to live the American/SA Dream of owning a car, house with a big yard and swimming pool and having 2.2 kids then South Africa is by far a better prospect. Take a look at the average salary of an EFL teacher in South Africa compared to one in the Czech Republic. Take a look on http://www.saet.co.za . On the other hand the Czech Rep. is safe and has beautiful architecture. I guess trying to compare the two is futile, but if money is the deciding factor then SA wins outright.

Oh and Evian crime in SA isn't Black on White like many people believe. In South Africa crime is colourblind! It is after all the rainbow nation!

Well this does not alter the fact that my friend's friend was a victim of a racially-motivated attack. I do realise that crime is RSA is predominantly due with poverty and inequalities in the distribution of wealth, but crimes of a racist notion are not uncommon and they come both ways..

    yea

thanks for all the contribution. For me i think SA has more industries, natural scenary and also a lot of sky scrapers, for which i think Czech doesn't have.
i also heard that the average take home pay in czech does not really take people home(funny), and the cost of housing is like 1/4 of their salary

It is applicable only for whites. As Ik and his friend are probably Negros, their view can be different.

Several years ago one Soudanese student and a Nigerian consul were killed in Prague.

Europe is definitely the safest place for the white Europeans. On the other side the coloured races are rather discriminated in Europe. Especially the Czech society is extremely intolerant against people with an incompatible culture (like the Gypsies, Moslems, etc.).

i guess if i were an european i would also be a kind of discriminating because most of this other races have some funny belief systems.
like the muslims, he comes to your free society, capitalises on that and use that same opportunity against you in the name of fighting for God.
My fellow nigerians because of the belief system wants to get into dirty things to make it big so that when they come back, people can identify as "he went,he saw and he conqueured"

i guess others are from poorer nations ot unstable countries. the czech maight see them as dirty, lacking ambition etc.

But i must agree with you guys, SA is not a safe haven at all

anyway i am not black-skinned. i am very fair and curry hairs too like you but not too sure which one i am.
