Where should I go beyond Prague in late March?

The tradeoff for my very cheap airfare to Prague, arriving March 15 and leaving the 26th, is so many places are still closed for winter. I was looking forward to Cesky Krumlov but I see the castle is still closed, and I find the same restricted hours at sites all over the Czech Republic.

Is Cesky Krumlov worthwhile even with the castle closed?
What would be the best destinations beyond Prague at this time of year, or should I save the Czech countryside for another time and go to Vienna instead?

I apologize if this has already been addressed. I did search and could not find an answer.

    Any advice is appreciated.

  2. You are in Prague for only a short while so I am not sure why you would need to go elsewhere. However if the wanderlust is strong then may I suggest a possibility would be to head for just those areas where the Czechs might be playing at that time of year. Namely ski resorts, either in Czech Republic, Slovakia, or Poland.

We visited in November and the castles were closed. Cesky Krumlov is a very charming town, even without the castle. And had the weather been better the day we went I would have much enjoyed wandering around it. As it was it was snowy/sleeting and my 74 yr old mother was not moving well. But, if had I to do it over again, we stayed just about a week and I would have spent more time in Prague as there is so much to see.
