    Hi

I was thinking about this after I made whipped cream for my pie. I refuse to buy cool whip. After I beat the whipped cream I licked the beaters and wondered if I was the only one over the age of 6 who still does this 8)  ? I do this after I make cake batter, and cookie dough, pie dough etc. That's the best part of baking :D ! My favorite is homemade or Jiffy-Mix fudge frosting.Yum Yum :D :D !

I do it as well. My American husband was quite appalled when I first offered him a taste--I think that Americans are a lot more vary of raw eggs than Czechs, at least from my experience. Oh well, at least there is more for me :).

Definitely! :D I have many "rituals" when I bake and licking the beaters (or the spoon!) is always one of them.

I also love to drink becherovka when I make koláčky - now I can't make koláčky without craving becherovka...

By the way, I agree - cool whip just isn't the same as homemade whipped cream. Plus, I don't think it's even made with cream - it's full of corn syrup and vegetable oil!

  5. Why on earth would you waste the good stuff that's stuck to the ebaters by NOT licking them? It defies the imagination that anyone would NOT want to get every last bit!

Gypzy ... I see you are in Michigan. Me too. Where are you? We are going to Prague in April and I found this site doing research for the trip.

I come from a long line of beater lickers and am proud of it. Can't imagine not doing it.

Me too! When I was a kid I would take one and my mom would take the other  . If it was my birthday I got both :D ! Glad I'm an only child
Does anyone out there remember when you could buy different flavor cake mixes w/ matching flavor frosting? This was waaaay back in the 70's to early 80's. What happened to the frosting mix in a box  ?I'm oold :p tee hee.

    - Preface the first section of text you want to quote with: [ quote] OR [ quote="username"] (if you want to specify the author of the quoted text)

Note: There should be no spaces inside the brackets. I put a space in there to fool the program and prevent it from turning my instructions into a quote. :)

    - End the quoted section with: [ /quote]

So the quote looks like this: [ quote]quoted text[ /quote]

    - Type your own text.

    - Do the same for the next section of text you want to quote.

I hope that's what you needed.

Okay youngster! That was a shot at we old farts. "Waaaay back" my eye. Yes, I remember them and miss them too. Look for the Jiffy brand cakes and frosting in a box.

What I have trouble getting is my all-time favorite cake flavor ... CHERRY CHIP :D Now the have "funfetti". :p I want plain old cherry chip with pink frosting.

    Hi Reverend Cindy,

Im not really that much of a youngster, I remember 8-tracks  ! I miss cherry cake mix, the predesesor to cherry chip, and the cherry frosting in a box. I eat the jiffy mix fudge frosting by itself. Unfortionatly they don't make different flavors :( .

Waaaay back? Shoot, I remember the 40's. Speaking of Jiffy brand - I can eat (cooked or right out of the mixing bowl) Jiffy Brand Cornbread until I pop.
Didn't notice when I was there but, is cornbread mix available in Prague? If not, boy am I going to need to stock up before I retire and move there.

If you need a good cornbread recipe, let me know. I have a great recipe from my mom. It far surpasses cornbread mixes (sorry, don't mean to dis the jiffy mix!). Plus, the ingredients are so simple you should be able to make it in the CR - only thing you might have to bring with you is the cornmeal.
