Actually the line-to-earth nominal voltage is 230 V eff. (in Europe). The abbreviation eff. (= effective) is substantial as the AC has no steady value (unlike the DC). 8)
Thanks Zeisig... I kind of figured that out with the oscillation of AC (sinusoidal curves)... and both my Laptop and digital camera power adapters allow 100-240V and 50-60Hz.... I saw the picture of Czech socket... The question remains is what do I tell Radio Shack or an Electrical Hardware store the specifications of a Czech socket so I can the right US-Czeck adapter. Any useful help would be most appreciated... Again... Thanks to all... 8)
If your power adapters allow 110-240V (50-60Hz), you need only a plug adapter: http://www.traveloasis.com/wa9grounplug.html For heating devices you need either a transformer or a converter. The step down transfomer (230V to 110V AC) is more universal as it produces a sinusoidal output, unlike the converter which produces chopped sinusoide.

All of my electricals items - palm pilot, camera batter charger, dvd player - worked with a simple adaptor plug. I think I got a set at Target that had common adaptors for overseas countries. It is a common European plug, Radio Shack would probably have it. Sharon
Thank you Sharon... Actually, interestingly enough, Radio Shack did not have it... Target sounds like a GOOD lead.. but I went to Walmart, and after dedicated pursuit, I find it... where? At luggage section!... Thanks for everyone's help...
Try the luggage or travel section. At Target it was where other travel items (eye masks, locks, etc) were. Also, if you have a travel related store nearby. Good luck!
