Well, if you canoed from Michigan to West Virginia, Virginia is just a few paddle strokes east. :lol: Actually, we are only about an hour from West Virginia - an hour west and a little south of DC. We can get to Charles Town, West Virginia in about an hour. I am sure you were in the western part of West Virginia.
We were actually in the North East part of West Virginia canoing the Cheat River. We canoed all the way from Lake Michigan through Pittsburg, onto West Virginia! :lol: Jak se řekne "liar" česky?

I did forget to mention that. But to be honest, it was only up stream on the way back home, you know, going North and all. And there was only ice and snow in Ohio. You know how cold those people can be :wink:
My CZ mother-in-law loves American-style salad dressing. The yogurt-based CZ style of dressing lacks flavor compared to what we have. So from now on, when we go visit, we will always bring a gift of salad dressing. Another small thing that people appreciate are chocolate chip cookies... any kind of chocolate chip cookies, but especially the break and bake variety that you serve right out of the oven. We have learned that this is a real treat...
Whenever I am getting presents for my Czech family, I never forget hoop cheese, as we all are big cheeselovers. However, I am not sure it is available everywhere in US (I always buy it at the local market in Abingdon).
Not if someone mentioned it before, but what about those typical American cookies? I heard that the Girl scout's cookies are the best ones. I can't actually tell, I've never have one, that's just what I heard.

How about maple syrup? That seemed to be a hit when I brought it from the US for my Czech friends. Also, hot sause or salsa. Some off the beaten path brand that you can't get in the CR. Of course, maybe my friends are a little unusual when it comes to Czechs since they like spicy food. I second the salad dressing idea - Paul Newman's, for example. Local American wine and beer are also good ideas, I think. Also, someone just told me peanut butter is a good one. What do you think? As far as Czech chocolate goes, I agree that it SUCKS! Fidorka and other chocolate wafers are an exception, other than that, I stay away from Czech chocolate. Sorry to offend you, fellow Czechs.
The other thing I thought of is natural/organic bath soap, lotion or shampoo (lavdender or such). As far as I know, those are still pretty hard to come by in CR. The store Botanicus sells what they purport to be all natural bath products, but these clearly have chemicals in them.
