EN>CZ My name!

Discussion in 'Vocabulary & Translation Help' started by subcultural_girlx, Aug 3, 2006.

  1. OK, this sounds silly, but I wanted to know how you would say "Alyssa" in Czech. I am starting to learn how to say "my name is.." but when I get to the actual name part, I am a little thrown off because of how to pronounce my own name. I don't know if there is a Czech version of it or if you just pronounce it like you would pronounce any other word.

Could someone please "translate" it into Czech pronunciation? I would very much appreciate it :)

I don't know, how right pronounce Czech with English, but I think, that I think Czech version is Eliška.

Alžběta, Běta, Eliška, Elizabeta, Elsa, Izabela and Líza (and maybe also Alice) are Czech names with related origin but none of them are exact equivalents of Alyssa. So, translation could be quite confusing. I recommend you to use English version and even English pronunciation.
