Don't let him train you. Maybe it's the challenge that excites him.

I guess it depends on the point of view - I would never call it training, but sharing the knowledge. Whatever you do together, brings you closer; and learning can be fun, too. If I were you, next time I would teach him how to make bisquits or coleslaw or another American dish you like. Important is you are equivalent partners, not a master and a disciple.

Sorry, I've just joined in on the discussion about Czech men.... Would you like this guy if he were American??? Would you accept him if everyone in this forum said that this was a normal behaviour for a Czech man?

To be honest I don't know. It would stand to reason that I wouldn't be here at this blog if I didn't have that niggling feeling deep down inside that the answer might be no.

I'm moving in with him next week and I haven't slept or stopped crying in two days. Even I know that that's not a good sign.

I think you have three options: first one is to move in together and then see for sure if this relationship is really for you. The second one is to sleep on it and decide later. The third one is to walk away because maybe you are worth something better. When you make your decision, don't look at the other two. There is always a good reason for everything!

My CZ girlfriend loves the idea of cooking and cleaning for me, though I insist I'll take up my share of the load. Her whole family is the same way, even with all the women in her family having part-time jobs at least. We are both working on our bachelor's degrees as well.

It's sort of a traditionalist idea. Wierd enough, I'm lost about the kitchen and she sees that as a key to my heart. When my stomach is full, I'm at home with the woman instead of out with boys. Something has to be right. It isn't for everybody, but her fending me off from the halfcooked dinner and me working around the house makes a good team. We both pull in a fair share of money as well... imagine that?

Impish, I'd say that you may have to get used to your role, or teach him a new one.

I just moved in yesterday. :D

If your girlfriend could send me some tips for how to keep the man out of the kitchen it would be great.

I can't speak for her, but I know a common tactic is to yell at me "whatcha' doin'!!!" and then to swat at me with whatever cooking instrument is near by. Hehe, I have to back off and wait for my chance again!

:D When I was an exchange student in Olomouc, I would make chocolate chip cookies...and my host dad would *always* try to sneak in and steal the cookie dough. I threatened him so many times with a wooden spoon or whatever I had in hand....just proves all guys are the same

Don't mean to hijack your thread...

What was your time like in Olomouc? I'm seriously considering moving there to teach English, but I also am considering Ostrava, Brno and Zlin.

Right now, I would have to say it's neck and neck with Olomouc and Brno.

How long ago was it that you lived and studied there? Would you recommend it?
