    Ahoj prateli!!! :)

I'm going to Praha and would like to know some info, so please, could anyone answer my questions?

    1. what currency is used in CR? (euro or local one?) - in tourist company they are unsure about it and said that I can use Euro, can you confirm it? Also if there's local currency, could you give me exchange rates for euro or US dollar?

    2. what about xmas and new year sales? what are the terms of such sales? Could you name "shopping streets" or places where I can to do some shopping?

    3. Night life in Prague, what places considered to be good? I'm thinking about visiting Rock Cafe, has anybody been there?

    4. What is price for metro/bus/tram ticket?

    5. I was said that people even like when you speak to them other Slavic languages, they are close to each other and Czechs would probably understand me, so if I speak another Slavic language, will it be OK?

    Thank you in advance,
    Moc dekuji.

    Ahoj,

You will find a lot of information right here on My Czech Republic. It is possible to search the website and search the forums for information.

    1. For information on the the Czech crown and using the Euro, see our Czech Currency section. There is a page that lists the current exchange rates.

    2. We have a large Prague Christmas section that lists the Christmas markets and their dates and hours.

    3. I have been to the Rock Cafe a few times over the years. I like that the room with the stage is not real big. I have only seen a few tables in that room, so if you want to watch the band you will either be standing or dancing. You can see who is playing there on the Rock Cafe program. I noticed the December program is not yet up on the English version.

    4. You can find information on the metro/bus/tram, including the prices of tickets and passes, in our Prague Transportation section.

    5. Which Slavic language?

    1. ČR uses Czech Koruna (Crown) see
    http://finance.yahoo.com/currency/conve ... amt=1&t=1y
for conversion (about 21.5 to the dollar now).

    2. Many places to shop in Prague, explore, enjoy! - Christmas Markets in Old Town Square and others (look at blog on home page of this site).

    3. What do you mean by "good"? Perhaps some others can fill you in with more detail.

    4. Prices vary depending on length of time valid. A good bet is to buy a long term pass (3 days up to 15 days) - good on trams, metro, and buses as many times as you want during the period. I think a 15 day pass is about 320Kc ($15 or so).

    5. Maybe, maybe not. Try learning a few basic Czech phrases (select the Language tab in the blue bar above.

Have a great trip - I'm sure you will find Prague much to your liking.

Czechs don't particularly like Russian--they were forced to study it for years in school during communism. The under 25-ish generation probably won't speak much if any Russian, and the 25-40-ish generation (and beyond) probably won't have any desire to revive their rusty russian skills. Best to learn a few Czech phrases and use English when necessary, although in a pinch a Russian word or two probably won't hurt, and may help get your meaning across.

yes, i know all this, but I was said that people are much happier when they hear any other Slavic language and not alien English for example, but anyway I'll check it soon

Also, please could you tell me which metro station is the closest to Rock cafe? it's address is Narodny, 20, Praha 1.

Also i heard that there s a restaurant somewhere on 7th floor or possibly higher with a nice view on the city, do you know such restaurant? Could you provide any information, like site, address, etc?

And one more question - where is it better to exchange money?

    Thank you in advance!

Metro station closest to Rock Cafe on Národni is Národni Třída (about two blocks away).

Best place to exchange money is an ATM (Bankomat)
