Hello All, I am looking at taking up a job in Brno, CZ. I would like to know details about the cost of living. 1.) Rent for 1 bedroom house and other charges 2.) Cost for food, I will be eating out regularly. 3.) Transportation cost, is there full fledged public transport available, how much does it cost of own a car, used car cost? 4.) I will be coming from India, are there any Indian resturants in Brno? 5.) Is it possible for people with non-CZ passport to travel in Europe, can I drive into neighbouring country for visit/tourism? So many people moving to Brno and so many apartments are needed. I hope they will have enough for all of us. I will be moving to Brno as well very soon. One is for sure, the prices are going up for such demand. One of the good sites I found for real estate http://www.brnocity.cz/reality/ but it is on Czech language only. Are flats in Brno full of pest and really crap? I'll rent a room there next year and I'm already horrified by what I might find.
hehe sorry if it sounded offending, I really didn't mean that. I was just wondering if the flats are usually overpriced given their standing. I mean yes rents can be cheap, but are the properties really good to live in? I have been staying in hotels in Brno, and man, they are so overpriced and my shower was shared with ants and spiders. For 60€/night; in western europe you get a pretty good hotel, and in Brno you get a horrible place... Is it the same problem with homes?
Hotel Pegas, in Jakubska. I did complain but I got this answer : "you can leave if you are not satisfied". I also tried the Pod Spilberkem and the room was terribly dirty, with woman hair in the bathroom and stains on the pillow case. They also can't speak English though their website is multilingual. So my firs contact with Brno rooms has been quite terrible, this is why I'm scared of what my company will fetch me in when I arrive.
On our last bike trip we visited Brno, we stayed in the student residencies which cost us 10 Euros per night. The accomodation was fantastic.
I am not sure what you call "fantastic", but I think anyway this kind of accomodation is good for backpackers, but not really when you travel for business or any other purpose BTW, I just got more info on my future flat. It is about 70m² in Renneska Tr. I gave my company a maximum budget and guess what the flat costs exactly that maximum... It is fully furnished and equipped though, good when you're just trying to get used to the city and the new places. I might soon be looking for a flatmate hehe.
