Hi, I have a Czech girl as a neighbour that I am interested in getting to know. She is a brilliant pianist and sings well also. I am an engineer/scientist and also a musician (piano accordion, guitar, piano). Occasionally we can hear each other play our instruments through the building walls etc.. which makes it nice to hear. If I asked her out, do you think something casual like coffee would be a good approach? Thanks in advance
I'm dating a Czech girl and I just got to know her as a friend first. I hear Czechs take a while to get to know and really befriend, but their friendship and loyalty lasts. This is true in my experience. I'd hold a party at your place and "randomly" stumble into her and invite her to stop on by. If you click, then there ya are!
Or you could always have another female friend come over and you could spontaneously invite her out together with you guys (or maybe two female friends, might be a bit much?) to coffee or even a movie... Or you could get some friends that play music to come over once a week for a "jam session" and invite her over to be part of the group. Just some ideas.
Thanks, appreciate the replies. I like the jam session idea, was thinking of asking her if she would like to play some music together. But alas, I now think she may have a boyfriend, ahh..such is life. The other day I saw a dressed up Czech guy get out of the lift with an Esky and he was on his way to her apartment (next door to me). He also looked worried when he saw me....So I decided to play song nice songs on my piano accordion extra loud that day!! (laughs) I'll have to quiz her the next time I run into her. cheers, Ads. 8)
I had a casual coffee with her the other day. Still not entirely sure if she has a boyfriend or not, but at this stage I suspect not. What a lovely, lovely, gorgeous girl. Very caring and sincere. I couldn't stop smiling. Christmas is a wonderful time isn't it.
What city are you in? I will be in Prague, Brno, Bratislava, Olomouc, Ostrava, Cesky Krumlov this Friday through January 2nd. Maybe I can find a date and you can ask her out on a "double-date," lol? That will give you an excuse to give her a small present for Christmas or New Year's and you can see her reaction. jewisler@yahoo.com
Hi, Thanks for the offer, nice idea, but I am a long way away in Melbourne, Australia. Anyway, I am thinking of biding my time and see if she is interested in getting to know me, before I ask her out on an actual date. See what happens.
When are you going back? Home for Christmas holidays? I will be living in Brno beginning sometime between June 10th and 15th, for at least a year.
Ah, I've never been to Czech actually...I am an Aussie and she has also been living in Australia for years. I will have to pass for the time being, but I may get there at some stage in the future. If I do, will look you up. thanks,
I prefer the term co-exist. Is there something special or traditional going on in Praha over New Year's Eve? Like fireworks or festival/party?
Yes, it seems to me, that here and there are some little celebrations on New Year's Eve... . . .
It's because it is the one time of year that it is legal to set off fireworks privately. You can buy them at most stores and supermarkets. Not speaking of official fireworks.
