I see on lide.cz all kinds of girls who have pictures and then underneath the caption, it reads ,,KUK" and it drives me crazy... slovnik.seznam yields me no results and no REAL books, you know with real binding and paper n sh1t? yeah, they don't yield me any results either. I've asked a few czech people and of course nobody has any bloody clue what i'm talking about. If someone could save my sanity, and teach me a new word today, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Milton
You may read it "Look at me, I am here!" The base verb is "koukat" colloquial for look Koukat se na něco = Dívat se na něco Small children say "kuk" when they are hiding and showing themselves after a while.
"Kuk" is an interjection derived from the verb "koukat" (peep, peer, peek) and in the context you mention it is used as "have a look at me".
"KUK" or "KU KU" is used in Czech much like the English "peek-a-boo" - it's meant to be cute, but ends up being annoying instead when used towards adults instead of babies
