I understand that there will be special celebrations on Charles Bridge to mark the 650th anniversary. Does anyone know what these will be? Thanks, Sheila
Wow, you seem be well informed, this information is quite new and was drowned by the noise caused by Prague’s Olympic candidature. The anniversary fall on July 9th, 2007 at 5:31 a.m., but the celebrations should start some weeks before and come to a head on July 8th (because it is Sunday). The objective was approved by Prague’s city council 4 days ago :!: and a public tender deadline is April 30th. That means the form of celebrations is not known for now. But it is supposed to include some theatrical/musical performancies, art exhibitions etc. following the time line from bridge’s establishing to modern era. The place of celebrations is Charles Bridge and its neighbourhood including Kampa, Křížovnické náměstí, Novotného lávka and the river.
Thanks for the information! I try to keep up to date with the Czech news, but my language skills sometimes let me down. Sheila
