This phrase was in a movie that I just watched (Once, starring Glen Hansard and the Czech beauty Markéta Irglová). I tried various online Czech-English translators and came up empty. Can someone tell me what this means please?

Oh, and šťastný nový rok :)

If you could add some context, situation in which it was said, maybe then...

But I promise, I try to find it :)

Sure, here is the conversation for the scene (glad I haven't returned the movie yet).

So, the two are having a conversation about Marketa's character's husband.

Glen: What's the Czech for... "Do you love him?"
    Marketa: Noor-esh-ho?
    Glen: So...Noor-esh-ho?
    Marketa: Noor-ho-tebbe.
    Glen: What?
    Marketa: C'mon let's go.
Glen: What did you say? Tell me.

Then the scene ends. I turned on the subtitles for this scene to make sure I had the spelling correct. Thanks in advance.

Hmmm... then maybe it's supposed to mean "I love you?" That doesn't seem right though... I thought that "Miluji tě " meant "I love you..." At least it does according to the translators I have been using.

I'm really not very familiar with the Czech langauge... are there different versions of the dialect?

If you could record the sound and send it to me, we will be sure :)

If it is DVD, you can use (windows) Start-Programs-"Tools"-"Fun"-Sound Recorder (sorry, I do not have english windows).

The part in question you will find if you watch from 1:45 to 2:04

So, finally I found this article:

    http://www.folktime.cz/index.asp?url=/clanek.asp&id=4566

    Extract
Only in one scene, during short trip to the sea, Markéta says czech to Glenn (from Florida ): "I love you" and not translate the sentence for him.

Normaly I would only say "Já miluju tebe" if my girlfriend was thinking I love someone else and I try to convince her it is she who I love.

In all other cases "Miluju tě", without "Já".

But I still do not understand why they write "Noor-ho-tebbe" for "Já miluju tebe" :)

So, thanks for the link, what a nice coincidence this sentence is in trailer :)

So, the winner is... "Miluju tebe" only - I love you.

But she has some weird accent :)

Okay.. so the subtitles are wrong then? Lol, I guess that explains why I couldn't find the words in any of the dictionaries that I...czeched. Rofl, sorry that was a bad pun. It's 6 am over here though and I've been up all night so I hope you can forgive it :p

Someone was doing subtitles from the movie and could not understand so he just wrote what he wanted to :)

    6am? West coast?

Yes, the transcript in those official subtitles is incorrect.
    He asks Miluješ ho?
and then she answers Miluji tebe without translating it for him.
I love that scene. She says she loves him but doesn't know that.
