Hi! I'm a wife and mother of two boys, and I live in Florida. My husband has traveled abroad quite a bit for work, but I've never been out of the states. So, I have decided to treat myself to 16 days in Europe. I'm splitting my time between London, Prague, and Inverness. I just decided to do all this about 2 weeks ago, on the day my very first passport arrived by mail. I used Priceline, Expedia, and Hotwire to book everything, and I'm going solo. I know it sounds a bit crazy, but I'm kind of a spur of the moment person... :lol: I'm scared to death and so excited that I could burst- both at the same time. My husband has been to London, so he has given me some useful info there. I know very little about Prague, however, so I'm cramming in as much info as I can find. I've been reading these forums, and I'll have many questions of my own to add. I leave for London on 4/22. :shock:
Angela_O, In late summer of 2005, I ventured abroad for the first time in 15 years. First destination: London, UK . . . then onward to Warsaw, Vilnius, Riga, Moscow, St. Petersburg, then Tallinn. But my memories of visiting Prague are always vivid to this day - including the CR countryside.. A long time ago, I lived in London for 9 months. Public transportation, such as the Tube (Underground) is extremely easy to use and much more economical (cheaper) than Cab service. Yes, Underground fare rates have been hiked up over the past years, but it's still a cheaper way of exploring the city if you can handle manuevering through corridors, escalators and stairs. Anyway, the Praha Metro (this includes metro trains and trams) is really easy to navigate throughout and beyond the city center. Within the first couple of days of visiting, I found it really easy, and best way of getting around. After two weeks of being in Prague, I grew attached to it as it became part of my lifestyle, and it was sad to leave it behind. Your trip will be great! - Vilo
Going solo - wow, you are either very brave or very crazy My first time ever leaving the States, I went solo as well. I was 28. However, relatives took me to the airport and my then boyfriend, now husband, picked me up a the airport in Prague, so the only bravery involved was sitting alone on a plane. :wink:

Hi, I hope you have a wonderful time in Praha it looks such a beautiful city. London is cool, stay central visit; Bond ST, Regent ST and Regents park as well as Buckingham palace and you cant go wrong. Oh! and Parliament is worthwhile too. N-joi.
