welcome. in september i spent some time in bosnia and herzegovina, which, as i now know consist of "federation of bosnia and herzegovina" and "republika srpska", so does that mean you're from BiH, or are you from serbia (where belgrade is the capital)?

hello Taja, welcome on board. I am from Sarajevo and I have recently started learning Czech. no course or anything, just by myself. I just wonder, since you've been living in CR for some time, what do you think how long does it take for someone from Ex-Yu who is living in CR to become fluent in Czech. did you take any courses yourself and how did it go?

Nisam imala nikakav kurs ceskog, niti imam vremena da ga pohadjam. Ne znam koliko je vremena potrebno da bi ceski usavrsila toliko da mozes da pricas tecno i bez poteskoca, posto ja za ovih 10 mjeseci nisam uopste aktivno radila na usavrsavanju istog, nego sam ga ucila samo uz pomoc par Ceha s kojima povremeno pijem i citajuci novine... Planiras dolaziti u Cesku? Ako mogu na neki nacin da ti pomognem - sa zadovoljstvom cu to uciniti :wink:
we entered in the south, halfway between split and dubrovnik and went to mostar, from there we went on to sarajevo, where we unfortunately only spent one night. we wanted to see the national park south of sarajevo the next day (i forgot the name, it was near the trebevic mountain according to the map) but we burned too much fuel looking for it (in vain), so we gave up and headed northwest towards bihac and the croatian border near the plitvice lakes. i'm determined to return to BiH for the next year's holiday but i have trouble finding people to come with me - whenever i mention bosnia to someone, they usually think the war is still going on, and if not, they're "at least" scared of stepping on a landmine:/ btw how is skiing in BiH? we saw quite a few slopes with ski lifts, cable cars, hotels and everything but i have never heard of BiH in connection with winter sports (apart from the olympics in 1984)
No David, it really works. My father-in-law and I sat up one night drinking. The next day he kept speaking Czech to me and insisted that I speak back. He said he was amazed at how much Czech I could speak. However, the next day, I couldn't do it. We laughed and said the alcohol must open up a part of my brain that's closed when sober. :?
