That was a good read! The Silvie Saint thing made me laugh.. . when I first moved here I got naked pictures of her every day on my mobile, until I banned all incoming picture messages. I didn't know she was Czech!

    I am confused,

The Czechs have a rich and eventful history. People who came here from all corners of the world did not only build and decorate castles, erected churches or founded monasteries, but they also influenced the overall architectural design of our cities. No fewer than 12 of these sites have already been entered in the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage. What is the name of the monumental UNESCO site, ideal for a one day trip from Prague?
The correct answer was: St. Barbara’s Cathedral in Kutná Hora
You chose: Basilica of St. Procope in Třebíč

    How was that wrong!?

It's Unesco.. it's 2 hours from Prague... its ideal for a day trip... Maybe they're making the point that people should spend a few days in Třebič

Also I forgot where Prague was in relation to Vienna... I didn't know how far it was from Brussels.. not giving a shite where Brussels is.. I've never heard of the world famous Western Bohemia Spa triangle... Everything else was easy!

Got one wrong, didn’t know the flight schedule thingie :( Personally I think that one was kind of unfair question coz unless you fly a lot why would you know/care about the schedules?

hee hee, it's just an ad! It's not supposed to be a fair question!

That's why I voted for the most frequent flights, because I knew they'd want to make themselves look good.

I woud not worry too much about this. The English are typically blinkered about any country outside their perimiters. Most Czech people I know and have met over the last few years are more geographically aware of other countries the the Brits. As for the comparison between Prague and London, Prague is an architectural beauty where London is just a concrete Jungle.

Llion....ouch!!! You know how to hurt a nation don't you. I really think you are generalising. You are obviously talking from your own experiences so please elaborate. There are people in all societies and nations who are geographically ignorant of other countries.

I don't understand your comment " typically blinkered ". Why typically? Also you talk of the English and then the Brits. Who exactly are you talking about - just the English or all of the UK?

Whilst i agree with you that Prague is prettier than London overall, London is not a concrete jungle in any sense of the word. There are parts of Prague that defy belief in ugliness!

Just one thought. Aren't all these Czechs you have spoken with capable of decent conversation in English language? If it is so, they definitely don't represent a "common Czech" but the level of their education is very likely above average and maybe they also travel way more than the rest of us do.
On the other hand, I hope even the young Czechs nowadays can pinpoint the location of every European and most of the bigger world countries on a blind map and know at least the very basics about them.
