Hi, I am also Czech and I have been living in Canada for 20 years.
All this time on Vancouver Island. You can see this web page

Andrew is thinking about to go to Ontario. Well we will see. Vancouver is very rainy and believe me after few years living in Manchester I can't resist any more rainy and cloudy days. We were thinking about Alberta but it looks very conservative part of Canada.

I would second Alexx's suggestion of Toronto. You and your partner will find lots of community related activities and support including one of the largest Gay Pride celebrations in this hemisphere.

I would choose it rather for good air connection to Europe, proximity of Niagara Falls, Lake Ontario, one day driving distance to NY or Chicago... ;-)

Vancouver is maybe very rainy , but only in winter months.
Good luck in this time in Alberta

The most work in Alberta is in Fort McMurray, because of oil.
But the weather in winter is bad

You are both right (Alexx and Glenn), the flights from the UK are mostly to Toronto and cheaper then to go to Vancouver. I also very welcome the idea that gays are welcome in Ontario. We wants to build our home and maybe have children. I know some people wouldn't agree with that but we are just normal human beings and wants to have children as well and adoption would be the best how to help someone life. We also wants to work asap because we don't want to live from our savings. We live in Manchester and it is very welcome place for gay community but the crime is raising, litters in the streets doesn't very appeal to us.... So we wants to be very carefull where to settle in the future.

    Hello Dave,

Well, I really love Toronto but I really enjoy the life style in Montreal and that you could also speak english without any problems.

This depends also what is your plan - do you have a lot of money to spend for an appt - if not, better Montreal because in Toronto you could pay for a 3 1/2 around 1000$ CD per month and for less around 700$ you could find this kind of appt.

Food is also a lot expensive - well i should tell you that more west you go, more expensive it will be for you to leave - in Montreal there is also a part of the town for guays - anyway, on my behalf, I would rather choose Montreal for all those points.

    Enjoy your life in Canada

It's simple; if you want to work in Canada, then you should live somewhere in Southern Ontario. Specifically in the "Golden Horse-shoe" area, around the Western end of Lake Ontario. This is where all the jobs are. Trust me, I've been living here since the early 1980's.

I agree with Claudettef. Toronto is a nasty place ; well, cities around like Milton, Kitchener etc. are ok but this is nothing if you compare it with Montreal. This city is a beauty and more affordable than Toronto & surroundings. And less Indians and Pakistani.
