Prostitution in Prague

I am visiting Prague and waws wondering if there are many prostitutes as many people i have spoken to say there are. is this true?

I asked my Czech friend and he said said prostitution is legal so there are a lot. And not just in Prague.

.... man, I 've seen so many dodgy things happening to men seeking adult services from girls in Prague, but I guess you'll have to find out yourself.

 

I'm not sure if it is legal actually. I know that when I moved from Czech three years ago the police were still occasionally arresting German sex touists and raiding brothels. This was in the city of Plzen. Maybe it is different in Prague but I think nationaly it is still illegal. There was a movement a few months age to legalise prostitution but there was a big outcry against it, especially from abroad that I think it was put aside although I could be worng. I think often times the police just look the other way (as with many other crimes, unfortunatly) so it may seem legal. This was the case in Cesky Decin where (near the German Border) where there are many children foced into prostitution. A foregin news agency (German or French, I cant remember exactly) came and did an undercover report about this which actually showed little boys being raped by sex tourists and when confromted with this the police in the region just turned the other way and basically said " we will do nothing". So, I dont think it's leagal but it probably seems like it due to the lack of law enforcement.

 

That is really terrible It breaks my heart to hear things like that.

 

I have to disagree. Maybe you'll encounter a few hookers in the city center but there are definitely NOT many of them.

 

There are hookers in Prague, like anywhere else, but its definitely not over-run by them...

I have encountered a few hookers in CZ, and the great thing about them , for want of a better word, is that a polite "No thanks, I am not interested" means that they will leave you alone, and move on....

 

I have visited Praha many times and have seen just a few prostitutes in the area going down towards Old Town Square. They were clearly not Czech or if they were they were romanies. There was always a policeman in the area mainly I think becasue they make more money as pick pockets which is the main personal security issue in Praha like every major city on earth. I have only ever had one attempt to pick my pocket and that was a romany hooker on an early morning walk who tried to bump into me asking for a light. Needless to say she got pushed away PDQ. This is not a suggestion that you push hookers around as they often have a minder close by. This was a one off and yes it happens but I wouldn't worry any more than if i were in central London, infact less.

Hi Meister general. A quick visit to http://www.worldsexguide.org/Czech-Republic.html tells us that "prostitution is legal, surrounding activities such as pimping are not. Cities can forbid street prostitution in certain areas, but this usually doesn't work and is not enforced." The age of consent is 15.

Strangely, i find that question and what it infers offensive. I have no objection to women selling themselves. Its just the way the question is made up.

What is a "going rate" generally anyway? Never heard that expression...

 

The term "going rate" means the price, or what one might expect to pay for the service offered, be it a plumber, electrician or in this instance a prostitute and generally speaking it's by the hour.
"Going" you could equally translate as 'current' and "Rate" as 'commercial value'.

I offer this as linguistic clarification only; neither admonishment or concurrence with the previous post.

"Going Rate", is the amount (of money) the women charge for their sexual favors! Let's look at it this way. Your walking down the street in Prague and see a really hot Prostitute, so you walk up to her and say "what's the going rate baby?" 8) Or, "How much money will it cost me to have sex with you baby?"

Not that I have ever propositioned a prostitute, I just know what "going rate" means.

Well, now I maybe could try to answer the original question - no idea on street girls, but several moths ago there were large ads at Brno "Moulin Rouge" club 800,- Kč for a room.
It was actually a bit cheaper then my college rent, but I suppose they would not let me stay there for a month

sorry about my post, i was just curious. i was under the impression that the czech rep. was a popular sex-tourist place. i don't advocate such activities myself, and im glad you chaps don't either.

as for my sig. i didn't realise it was 'big'. most of the other boards i post on have sigs that size, even bigger. i see it has been removed by the admin. is there rules to the size of signatures etc.? - i'm not here to cause trouble. im interested in odd cultures/ethnic groups/race topics. so that's why im here basically.
