In Prague in April, who's up for a beer/coffee?

    Hi all,
I read there was in informal get-together at New Year's, and was wondering if anyone was interested in another in April. Unfortunately I manage to get there only about every 2 yrs or so (live in Montreal). I just came across these boards recently, and though I have come to know the city fairly well, at the cost of a couple of pairs of fav shoes, it might be fun to meet some people and chat, whether or not they are from Prague or not.

    Hi!

It would be fun to do another get-together. The one we had at the end of January was very enjoyable. When will you be in Prague?

    Hi,
I'll be there between April 8th and the 25th. No set plans yet for family, theater or whatnot, so any time would be good (except for a little ski trip to Austria). I understand it's been a 'real' winter there this year, with a constant covering of snow? Hopefully it'll be more like spring in 3 weeks! How many people managed to make it to the last get-together? I look forwarding to hearing from you Dana, and anyone else that can make it.

    Hi Prok,

There were a total of six people last time. And, the snow is all gone in Prague, disappeared very quickly when the temperatures went up a few days ago. So it's spring finally! It is sunny today and about 14 deg. Celsius. Feels great. Of course it can (and probably will) get colder again, it's only March after all.

Should we try to arrange something for mid-April? We could do an evening during the week, or meet over the weekend. I hope some others can make it too, so suggestions are welcome.

I guess, I'll miss this one. I'll arrive Prague 28 April thru May and perhaps June (open) -- Having problems "choosing" accommodations. The price ranges are all over the map --20EU to 300EU-- Would prefer finding something closer to the 20EU mark, that will determine how long I can stay.. Any suggestions

Shame I'll just cross paths with Viktor. Perhaps a weeknight would be better, as I am trying to arrange the ski trip, but as yet I don't know when that will be exactly. I'll post as soon as I find out the details. I hope others will be able to make it as well. It would be a great opportunity to meet new people, and of course, a darn good excuse for a pint or two! We have Staropramen & Kozel here, but have to run to Ontario to go get them, and even then, it's not the same as being there.

    Hi,

You can count me in. Getting together for a drink sounds good. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see what's decided upon for the date/time.

I've made this thread "sticky", so it will stay at the top.

    Hi!

I'd like to join you but I'll be in Prague only 18.-21.04, so if it's possible to arrange it during that time, I'd be definitely interested.

Hi Helen! I'm glad to know that you'll be in Prague in April. It would be nice to meet you! Let's try to narrow down the dates to April 18 - 21 then. I can't make it on Wednesday evenings though (after 6 p.m.), so the evening of Apr. 20 is not good for me. The other days are fine.

Jeff, I'm glad you can make it! ;)

Geleen, if we do hold it earlier than the 18th, I'm sure we can make a herculean effort and hold another one, since Jeff, from what I can tell, is a proper Czech lad.. any excuse for a beer! Really, the stuff is so good, it doesn't take much arm-twisting to indulge in Cz beer. Thanks for making the thread "sticky" Jeff, I look forward to meeting all of you.

:). From April till September or October I'll visit Prague at least once in month and I'm always ready to take some beers in a good company ;). But I really hope to meet you all already in April.

Looking forward to meeting everyone also.

Svo, does it work for you if we narrow down the meeting date to April 18, 19, or 21?

And yes, I always enjoy a nice fresh Czech lager. :)

For me (altough I'm not Svo ;)) are 19 or 21 better than 18 because I'll arrive on 18th but I don't know yet, what time, so...

Good to hear from you too Helen. :)

If the 19th or 21st don't work for Svo, we can simply arrange another get together for one of those dates.

    Hi,
Either of the nights 19-21 should be ok. The only reason I haven't committed to any one night in particular is I have no idea if my family is planning any theater outings or whatnot. Barring that, why don't we pencil in the 19th? Anyone have any suggestions on a venue? Jeff, any favorite haunts?

    Hi!

Jeff and I have heard good things about these two places and we wouldn't mind trying one of them out:

Kozička (The Little Goat) - Kozí 1, Old Town, www.kocicka.cz, serves Krušovice Mušketýr, light, dark (yummy!). They take reservations.

U černého vola (At the Black Ox) - Loretánské náměstí 1, Hradčany, serves Velkopopovický Kozel (yummy!). I can find out if they take reservations.

Other suggestions are welcome. The 19th sounds good.

I pefere the last one because of Velkepopovický Kozel :d.
Actually there's no difference for me. I haven't visited these places.

    Hi,
Either one sounds good. Kozicka seems a bit more touristy, and I've heard good things about U Cerneho Vola. At the end of the day, I don't think it matters where we go. Considering the first serves Krusovice, we could put it to a vote (or a debate).. Krusovice vs Kozel.

OK, Kozel dark is my favorite beer, so I'd have to go with U černého vola. They actually serve Pilsner Urquell as well. One possible disadvantage of that place is the fact that they don't take reservations. Jeff and I might go there this weekend to check it out, so we'll see how big the place is and we can even ask if a small group of people may have a problem getting a table on a weekday night.
