Vypravels, co bylo dnes ve skole.

You were telling about "what happened" in school.

Is "co bylo" a common way to say or ask "What happened.......?" I understand "co" to be "what" and "blyo" to be "was" in the neuter singular. In English we can say this many ways "What took place" "What has occurred" "What transpired" but basically we say "what happened"

    Thanks,
    Calvario

    In Czech, too.

    Co bylo ve škole?
    Co se dělo ve škole?
    Jak bylo ve škole?
    Jaká byla škola?

    or minimalist forms:
    Co ve škole?
    Co škola?

And you can go on and on - co se stalo, co se událo, co se přihodilo...
