Just joking ! Do you know why Americans don't call the US capital a city meanwhile they called New York a city (NYC)

 

I know it means and that it is "somehow" crude but I do not have that feeling of what is how crude in English. I will try to be more... attentive.

 

I really don't think age is an excuse for gratuitious use of profanities in response to someone's posting. Particularly when he prides himself on his facility with languages. One would think that "culture" and "manners" go hand in hand with education. I guess such is not the case here

right. and if you look at the time of the posting, you will see that we both were posting at the same time. Still, if one "thinks" something is crude and "isn't sure just HOW crude it is", then it would stand to reason NOT to use it in response to someone else, especially if the other person is not familiar to you.
