What will your status be in the Czech Republic? Will you be employed here? Will you have a student visa? Will you marry or are you married to a Czech citizen?

If I'm not mistaken, you can get a long-term residence permit if you are legally employed in the Czech Republic or are married to a Czech citizen. If you're eligible for long-term residency, you can start the application process through the Czech embassy/consulate while still in Romania.

    hi dana,

i posted about my situation here: ... php?t=8028.

i'm not sure how long i'll be staying in the czech republic, it depends on many things as you can see from my first post. :(

from what others have told me i understand getting a bank account and renting a house won't be that hard. i'd like to get a czech id so i can make an account with neteller (e-wallet used for many gambling transaction online, a service that isn't available in romania). any advice on my situation? thanks.

I guess if you want to get czech ID ("Občanský průkaz"), you need to live here for certain period of time (five years), or to be married with czech, or to have czech nationality (and prove you can speak and write czech).

I still do not get why do you need it, your romanian ID or passport should be enough for you to do whatever you want.

For example - my boss is in same situation, he is Pole, he lives here, owns a company here, work here, and does not need czech ID.

I guess he needn’t it - he is EU citizen. And Czech Republic, unlike Germany, Austria or France, don’t rub the wrong way the new member states.
