looking for Maximilliam Engle' family
Eso, didn't you post a funny song about that town or is that my bad memory? :? 8)
The Czechs spell the name of the town with a "J": Jičin.
I'm not sure, but I don't remember any funny song about Jičín.
Thank you very much. I didn't know how to spell it. I am looking for lost family . Surname is Engle, my grandfather's name was Maximilian Engle. His hometown was Jicin.
Enge in the phone book Click on "Ukaž na mapě" to show on the map, where the person lives.
What about the difference between Enge and Engle?
No Engle's appear in the online phonebook.
By the way, phone books are becoming less and less useful in CZ, because many people abandoned their home lines and fully switched to cell phones (the main reason probably being high monthly flat rate (paušál) you have to pay for your home line). Too bad there isn't something similarly useful (as far as I know, cell phone numbers are not usually listed in phone books).
may be Engl/Englová
Sorry, I just found out from my father, my grandfather's name should be Max Engel, not Engle. he also had a brother called Erwin Engel, and Frederick Engel.
Here's the post I was referring to, I guess the town name is bažin. I was way off!
And you have no idea, how much
"Z bažin" means: from swamp.
Bažiny is Czech word for swamp
I've been to a few towns that could be referred to as swamps!
Separate names with a comma.
