    Hi, :D
Solo travelling through Prague and the entire Czech Republic is rather simple and reasonably safe. Staying in a hostel is a good option for budget travellers, with a large range of places to stay, most with proper facilities and within close proximity to the city centre.
Learning the Czech language is always a wise choice prior to travel to C.R. However, it is not totally necessary unless you plan to socialise with the locals. Many people in C.R. speak at least some English (especially the younger generation), but it does help to learn the basics of Czech and/or take a phrasebook.
I hope this helps you, have a great time in Prague! :D

Study up on this web site. Forum information is especially excellent. Make sure you see even old messages and also use SEARCH on this web site. I am sure that we probably talked about everything at least once....twice.....three times..... you will find it all here.

One tip is to not spend all of your time in Prague! It's wonderful, but you really need to get out to some of the other towns (where, coincidentally, that phrasebook will come in very handy!). I would recommend Telc, Jindrichuv Hradec, and Cesky Krumlov, all easily accessible by bus.
