Jak se pouzivá "by" s budoucností?

    Chovají se, jakoby zásoba vody (bude vypnutá).
    They are behaving as though the water supply will be cut off.

    Hello, I'm sorry for the late response. I would translate the sentence like this:

    Chovají se, jako by dodávka vody měla být přerušená. (as if the water supply should be cut off)

    Thank you! So "měla být" represents the future form of the subjunctive?

    See my other reply in the Vocabulary & Translation Help forum. Basically, "měla být" on its own does not express the future (it literally means "it should have been") but it implies the future when used with "jako by" (as if it should be).
