I have a question in regards to a sentence I have to translate. Říká, že mezí touhle povídkou a tamtím románem není zvlášt' velký rozdíl. He/She says that between this story and that novel there isn't an especially large/great difference. First. Have I translated correctly? Secondly at the end I wrote "an especially" is this correct? It doesn't sound right with out the "an" or is there another way I should transllate the end of this? We could say "big" in stead of "large" not referring to size but rather amount. Just a curious obsevation.
Yes, at least literally. Maybe, there's no instead of there isn't an sounds better. The word velký means large or big, but in this case you can translate it also as important or essential. The word zvlášť works as intensifier. You can omit it or replace it by some English intensifier. My favourite translation is: ...there's no essential difference. Do you're interested in answers "Sorry, I don't know"? BTW, the number is rather number of entries than number of people.
