Hi, I am Anirban, a Ph.D in biology form India and will be moving to the Institute of physiology, Academy of Sciences of Czech Republic (ASCR) located at Videnska with a postdoctoral fellowship of approximately 900 USD / month. Can anyone please give me an idea of living costs there? Please note that they will arrange for my accomodation in the institute but I am not sure whether they are going to pay the rent. I will be thankful for an answer....
900 USD = 16,500CZK it seems a bit low do a search here (search forum) on cost of living in CR good luck and welcome to the forum
You didn't say in which city. If it's in Prague, then Videnska is very long street (a few kilometres) on southern border of the city, which runs through various categories of housing development, so it's hard to say without more specific information about location. Glenn is right, 900 US isn't much with current exchange rate. (but if Institute will pay your rent then it's different story) Prague is also more expensive then for example Brno. I think you should ask these questions people in Institute.
