What is the ,ground or street level floor called in the Czech language? In English (American ) the first floor is the ground/street level of a building, but in Czechprvni patro/poshody is actually the second floor in English (druhi patro/poshody = third floor etc..)

What then is the ground/street level of a building called in Czech?

I have been sending people to the first floor ( prvni patro) -- to look up an apartment on the ground floor-- and they cold not find the party I was seeking!.

    Yes, that's right.

The ground or street level floor is called "přízemí" (btw basement is "suterén" and mezzanine is "mezipatro"). This problem is also possible to solve by using term "podlaží" instead of "patro".
