Does anyone know of any scrapbooking stores in Prague? I will be studying there this summer, and would love to find some scrapbooking supplies that are specific to Prague and the Czech Republic. Any names of stores and addresses would be most helpful! Thanks in advance!

Not sure what you mean by scrapbooking stores, mexskimo. Do you mean shops that sell scrapbooks - which to me are larger than A4, plain paper books to stick cuttings in. Or is this some sort of service that I don't know about?

If you mean the books themselves, although I've not specifically been looking for those, I have found that I can't find the sort of note books I use in the UK (the hard back Black n' Red spiral bound ones) so if you like a particular sort, it might be an idea to bring a supply with you.

And if anyone has seen ones like Black n' Red type ones, do let me know! I have found similar ones but not quite the same ie not such hard covers and with a wider feint.

In the U.S. (as well as the U.K. so I'm told), scrapbooking is really popular, and there are stores everywhere that have specially designed papers, albums, stickers, stamps, and all kinds of embellishments to add to your pages. It's kind of an arts and crafts hobby. Over here we have stores that cater specifically to this hobby, and also many craft stores have a scrapbooking section in them.
That is what I am looking for. Hope this explains a little better! Thanks.

Then the answer is I don't know - I haven't noticed any arts and crafts shops that would sell that sort of thing, but then I haven't been looking. I've never seen them in the UK either but again, I don't do craft-type things. Although now I think about it, I have seen (in the UK) a sort of album that you can put holiday memorabilia in.

Hopefully someone else who reads this will know if there are shops in Prague that would sell the sort of thing you're looking for. And I will have a look next time I go to a shopping centre and report back!

But even if there is, I doubt it will have reached the heights of sophistication it obviously has in the US so perhaps you should bring your own after all! Or save it all up to take home and catalogue when you get back.

    Here's an example of scrapbooking:

You buy a book that has paper that is safe for pictures and put others in the album to make viewing the pictures more enjoyable. I believe what mexskimo is looking for are stickers of Prague and CR to put in the album. Perhaps if there isn't a scrap booking store, you could find these type of things in a souvenir shop.

    Try this website:

You can also subscribe to a kit club and receive a scrapbook kit from the states each month - but the shipping can get spendy! $16 is what we charge for shipping to Europe - and that's the actual cost plus just a little (.70) more for the box. But our kits are packed with lots of paper and embellies. 12 pieces of patterened paper and 10 pieces of cardstock.

Have a great time! I lived in Jihlava, south of Prague, for 18 months and it was an awesome experience.

    Best of luck to you!
