For a moment I thought my insults to him weren't appropriate... Yea, that faded.

Now back to writing my paper on Gandhi--surely a more enlightened and civil man than David and I. If I was in the Indian nationalist movement against David, I would be throwing grenades instead of suffering discrimination. Just my mentality I guess. He would sit there in a cloud of smugness. I wonder if I could still kick him in the nuts way up there?

Cheers mate, this is good fun!

    Hi David,

man they are just all over you like a pack of wolfs....And you do bring a good point saying that Czechs should change their attitude but..good luck with that one...(I am talking about Czechs in general).

But wait, I just came up with something brilliant: I am Czech and I am nice to you so not ALL the Czechs are be terrible, right???

Dave, ol' buddy, what a bore. Now that your back home, I'll bet your finding them all rude and backstabbers. Maybe something about you brings out the worst in others?
Thanks for the lively debate though. Even if it is just about how you see the world.

And my other point (which I have repeated several times) is that you are not very observant and see (and read) things only superficially, which point is once again proven by your continued inability to recognize this point, even when it is printed plainly and repeatedly in your own native language.

Seriously guys, I don’t think this troll ever even been to Czech Rep. Probably just some looser living in his mama’s basement being bored and looking for something to “feel important” about.
Kind of like those hackers yesterday in the news who downloaded flashing and flickering materials into epilepsy forum. Evil for no other reason just to be evil and destructive.

And even if by some chance he/she was “for real”, hmm .. excuse me but why exactly would an entire country have to change to suit him/her? Why is it that the diverse population of the entire country is wrong and he/she is right? Logic would dictate that it is him/her in the wrong. If he/she expected to have his butt kissed just for being from a different country then he/she would get vetoed no mater where he/she went.

Anyways …. I’m going back to lurking ….

    Oh yeah, before I forget .. :) :D :p

I just hope this charming character isn't British... I think he would be better suited to the other main Czech interest site than MyCzechRepublic, where they take pleasure in being gratuitously rude, rather than constructive.

I have been here for 18 months and don't know what he's talking about. It reminds me of the old tale about two people who had just moved into an area and asked a resident of long-standing what the people were like there.

The old resident asked the newcomers what the people were like in the town they had come from. One replied that they were friendly, helpful and he had made a lot of good friends there. The other replied that they were rude, surly, difficult to deal with and he was glad to have left.

The old resident replied that they would both find their new neighbours similar to those they had left behind. A story with a lot of truth to it, not very well re-told, for which I apologise.

My personal guess is he IS Czech.. what he(she, it, whatever) wrote is quite similar to what some czechs write about ČR...

Actualy you can see highest level of hate toward Czech republic from special kind of Czech emigrants. I never understood why is that.

Many of them even live here (yet keep talking about moving out soon)...
I guess its blaming their own nationality for their own incompetence(at least in few cases)..

Those who judge nation as a whole from few poeple which met in this country, are usually stupid xenophobes. I don't know which country you are from, but there are good and bad poeple in all nations. I met good and bad Germans, good and bad Poles, good and bad Russians etc. Think about it, please. As a Czech, I know many Czechs, and I don't think they are better or worse than other nations.

I don't know many poeple, who have the same opinion like you. Many tourists, who come to Prague, say Czechs are friendly to foreigners.

About corruption. Unfortunately, there is corruption all over the world. Don't you remember the scandal in Italian fotball ligue? Maybe there is more corruption in former socialistic countries, but why? Think about it. How would the Czech Republic look like, if communists wouldn't won the election in 1946?

  12. Having a CZech lecture me on Xenophobia really is a cabaret worth watching.. The really tragic thing about all these abusive and nervous denials is that they are confirming the substance of what I said - and yet none of the americans or czechs here can even see this. Part of the collective consciousness of the Czech psyche is to be unable to accept they can be at fault for anything. The Czech male is never wrong about anything - It is always someone else's fault - and is even proud of the fact that people dislike them for this arrogance. Of course, like all true passive aggressives, this out of control egotism is thinly veiled by a pretence of false modesty.Interesting too why the americans here get so aggressive defending another country, when they are usually invading and destroying them, Maybe its some sort of sublimated guilt conscience for the fact they sold Czechs out to Stalin at the end of the 2nd world war and their army stood by and watched as the Russian tanks rolled in. Maybe not.
Ah well, seems it is true Czechs are perfect in every way and must never be criticised for anything. AS for the 1946 election, read your history books is my answer. It is Czechs who oppressed CZechs through out Stalinism and their answer to the Russian tanks in 1968 was to get up a petition to ask them to go home. C,C,C,C,C (what a dickhead says Glenn/ Im really intelligent I can write in whole sentences says BMoody/ I was in Czech for 18 mnoths I know everything about them says Sova/ I am the alpha male in this forum and I must assert my superior attitude says Scrimshaw/ blablabla and on and on.....

Part of you consciousness of David O'Donnell's psyche is to be unable to accept you can be at fault for anything. :)

Either we are right, or you are. What is more likely? (I know your answer - you are. Of course.).

never called you a dickhead - called you a prick.

"Be gone, you have no power here." - Glenda the Good Witch.

I'm sure you'll recognise the reference - all bitchy queens (regardless of their claimed sexual orientation) do.

  15. Glenn, I know you have trouble with words of more than 2 syllables -but what on earth are you talking about? Try and keep your insults understandable please.

  16. Hey ta, thanks for comments. Refreshingly honest.

My experience has been completely different. I have been impressed by the depth of warmth and sincerety with the average Czech I deal with while I'm there. The level of hospitality is amazing.

While, by American standards, some Czech men might seem "sexist"(and some are) we're not dealing with American standards...or German, or UK...we're dealing with Czech standards. My wife, for instance, thinks that all women are bad drivers and doesn't want to get a license (though I told her she'll NEED ONE when we move back to the States). My perspective is that Women's Liberation as seen in the U.S. is not only not taken root, but NOT WANTED by most women in the Czech Republic.

Bureaucracy? Sure, left over from the communist regime, it takes a month to get a new ID card, on the other hand it only takes a month to get a new passport compared to 6 to 8 weeks or more for a new Passport in the US. Not all the records are computerized...bureacracy is normal...all nations have it.

I'm sorry your experience in Czech has been so bad...perhaps it was the people you associated with, or the way you treated people that brought this out of them, I've just not seen it.

  18. Yup yury that must be it - It must be my behaviour that forced Czechs to be rude to me and it must be Czech women who make Czech men sexist. Again , you are just reinforcing my points - read up..........

Is it just me or am i the only one to be troubled by the hatred and vitriollic outburst against someone who holds differing views to the majority of us?

I totally disagree with davidaodonnell's opinions but he has as much right to express them on these boards as we have the right of reply, but some of the responses and language here is really over the top. I really am appalled.

Surely we are a democracy on these boards?
