My brother Dan served in Zlina Slovakia for the Peace Corp in the mid-late 1990s. He said his nickname was "Zlate Ruki" but he never translated it. Dan died in 2000 at the age of 40, and we never found out what his nickname meant. Can anyone help?
"Zlate ruky" in Slovak means "gold hands" (in Czech, it is "zlate ruce"). The nickname is given to somebody who is extraordinarily skillful, able to fix anything, a "jack-of-all-trades". Both in Czech and Slovak, it means a very high appreciation. So you can be proud of your brother!
Your kind response is welcomed here with happy hearts. I cannot express my gratitude. How do you say "Thank you" in Slovak? Very Best Regards, Judy
