I have a Czech friend who lives in the Czech Republic who recently moved within the country, but I don't have the new address. Will their postal system forward mail and packages to a new address and if so, for how long after the change of address?
In the Czech Republic, mail forwarding is a paid service (usually the Czech Post does not know someone's new address, it is not a secret police). For how long? As long as someone pays for it. Is it different in the USA?
Thanks for your response. I'm not sure I understand the answer. If you are not from the US, in the US we provide our post office with our new address and the mail is forwarded for a year. There's no extra cost for letters, but I'm not sure about packages. If someone in the Czech Republic moves, do they tell the post office to forward mail? You say it is a paid service? How much do they charge?
So what happens if I mail a letter to someone's old address and they did not buy the mail forwarding service? Will the letter be returned to me? How can I know if they have this service, since the only way I can communicate with them is by mail?
