Could anyone out there please throw me some names of old Czech folk songs that are in a minor key? I mean from Bohemia not Moravia or Silesia.

I've heard hundreds of Czech songs through my life, but very few in a minor key.

    Dekuji predem...

That is not easy. It is more or less defining feature of the Bohemian folk songs that they are in a major key. But yes, there are some:

    Koulelo se, koulelo

    Koulelo se, koulelo
    červené jablíčko,
    komu ty se dostaneš,
    má zlatá Ančičko.

    Koulela se, koulela,
    dvě naproti sobě,
    komu bych se dostala,
    než, Janíčku, tobě!

    Já husárek malý

    Já husárek malý,
    botky rozedraný,
    já na vojnu nepojedu,
    až budu mít nový.

    Tatíček to slyšel,
    ven z komůrky vyšel,
    botky mu dal udělati,
    na vojnu jít musel.

    Já husarka malá,
    mezi husarama,
    husarů je na tisíce
    a já jedna sama.

    Kdyby bylo ještě
    těch husarů dvě stě,
    já bych se jim postavila
    jako švarný děvče.

Hmm yeah I suppose. I was sort of wondering if there were some Czech subcultures in Bohemia that would have their own styles, that might have more minor key songs. I mean for example how some Eastern Slovaks have more of minor key songs than other Slovaks.

    Any other names, anyone?

I'm sure anyone who did a search for this found it already, but here:

Now that that question has been answered, could I be so cheeky as to ask if we'd get any more results if we were to extend the search to include the whole Czech Republic? And if not then maybe even Slovakia?

I'm such a sucker for a minor key.
