    one of the best CZ movies for the last couple of yrs. I guess. Although it has some flaws, I think it is quite useful for understanding a bit more the Central Europe. :arrow:

    Yes, I did. I have read most of Hrabal's books and I am really persuaded that Menzel knows how to catch their leitmotiv which is pretty hard. The problem is the main character - I. Barnev didn't fit into his role - before, Menzel made better choices for Hrabals' pábitelé. But as I said - this is another Hrabal's half-prose half-poetry story which is rather difficult to cinematize. I think those foreigners, who are interested in the Czech history and culture, might find it quite stimulating. I think it would be very nice if this film is screened in other Central-European cinemas as it could boost the mutual understanding among Czechs, Germans, Slovaks etc.
