    Hi,
does anybody have any information about the requirements English schools/colleges have for Czech students who want to study for A-levels. Is it possible to start an A-levels course after finishing the Czech Zakladni skola ('Basic school') at the age of 16 or do they still have to do GCSE? Please, share any experience or information you have. Thanks a lot.

    Hello Evik,

Do Czech students get a specific qualification on completion of zakladni skola?

I have just spoken to one of my local further education colleges, which offers A Level courses.

This one (as with many others) will recognise EU qualifications or levels of education achieved. They suggested using the NARIC service (http://www.naric.org.uk), which can compare qualifications between countries. Unfortunately it costs (about £40).

As an international student it is likely that you would have an interview at which your English ability would also be assessed to ensure that you would be able to keep up with the courses.

For the current year, if you are under 18 on 31 August 2011 and have lived in the EU for 3 years or more then your A level education/courses will be free of charge.
