went to the mall at Zlicin yesterday. A pair of 501 Levis cost 2,650 kc (about 125 USD) R U KIDDING? They are 30 dollars in the states! They are only stinking Levis, my word... My super fast (HA) UPC/Net conncetion (256) with 40 channels of TV just went up again too, now at a whopping 1715 Kc per month (klasic TV only) about 75 dollars per month...this is going to far. In New Hampshire, the net is almost at T1 speed for 30 per month...Czechs are getting ripped off, and me also :{
You should note that the majority of fashion is expensive anywhere in Europe, Eastern-Bloc countries proving no exception. If there are so many problems in CR, maybe you should reconsider moving there...
But thats not true, Nike's here are about the same as in the states. Suits, albeit of less quality and somewhat strange to us westerns, are either ugly, or, if from the west, more expensive, true... but 5x's the cost for what is considered low end jeans is too much :{ Anyway, it appears as though they are about to get much more expensive! THE cost of trousers, spectacle frames and sweetcorn imported into Europe from America will jump 15 per cent next month, after the latest transatlantic trade dispute erupted yesterday
Interesting items... I noticed a higher general price for items, in particular clothing and fruit when travelling throughout Europe (not considering currency exchange). More expensive prices for clothing, I noticed, seemed to comprise the price tags of American clothing & associated brands. Whilst Americans may see Levi's as a lower-end of the market clothing manufacturer, it may be seen differently by Czechs, hence the higher price. US$125 still does seem quite high for a single pair of Levi's jeans, but please tell me - how does the competition in CR compare for that particular clothing article? Jason
maybe you should reconsider moving there... How would I know the prices if I didnt already live here !
You old gruff KJP. As if I didn`t konw you. But tell me what in the world are you still doing in the Grudge Republic? And where has your Yankee shrewdness gone? Peanut butter for 12 bucks, Levis for 130 or so. Ain`t it a niche market?
Lifes a bitch Karel, rememeber the good ol days, vacuum packed luncheon meat was a novelty, there was even a statue of Micheal Jackson here in Prague, after Stalin was dropped like a bullet... The peanut butter and jeans thing is out of control, and out of the question, its a matter of principle, I gew up on those two items (70's NY) My mother used to hose me down in my levi's jeans and jacket for they never came off.... The Grudge republic is turning out to be the grunge rep. Don an arabic scarf, wrap around neck to stay warm, wear a miniskirt in the ice, sharp metal item through nose and what, prey tell, brought you to Japan?
