I am soon to be engaged to a Czech girl and we are planning to get married next summer in Prague. After the wedding, we will live for a few years (at least) in the States and then back to Czech Republic. Does anybody know anything about this? I've been in touch with US and Czech embassies but it's all a bit confusing. Any advice, pitfalls...

Also, I'm looking forward to spending lots of time on this site learning the language so I can communicate with my future in-laws...

I'd love to hear any advice on learning the language, marriage in Prague, permanent resident status AND the job market in Prague. Thanks!

    Hi Ryan,

It's been a while since you posted this and I don't know if you still need feedback. Let me know if you do. I'm Czech, married to an American, living in the U.S., and can share some info.

As far as permanent residency in the Czech Republic goes, you'll find what you need to know here:

    Good luck with everything!
