I am looking to find ancestors of Alois Slavik, originally of Bohemia, Czech Republic. Male, 5’9, Blond Hair, Blue Eyes. He was born on August 1st or 2nd, 1891. He died on October 27, 1961 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His wife was Josephine Smatlack, originally of Bohemia, Czech Republic. Female, 5’1. She was born on February 16th, 1893. She died on August 7th, 1964 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I’m traveling to Europe and will be passing through the area. I am their great grandson. I am looking for family that may be distant relatives.
Slavík and Šmatlák are common Czech surnames. You need to know the birthplace of your ancestors as well. Otherwise it is unlikely that you will find the right Slavíks and Šmatláks.
A shot in the dark, but there is an Alois Slavik who arrived at Ellis Island in 1910. At the time he was 20 years old. http://www.ellisislandrecords.org/searc ... &dwpdone=1 He was from Bratkovice in Bohemia, which is in the Pribram area. Again, it is a long shot, but I suppose it gives you a starting point with some research. http://www.volny.cz/bratkovice/index.html http://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bratkovice
