    For practising: football (= soccer)
For watching:   football (= soccer) & ice hockey

At least for last hundred years.

Other popular sports for "practising" with friends, in pubs, are darts, bowling or billiards.

I've been in Prague for nine months now, DjAvatar, and have been in one or two pubs, especially in Zizkov, where there are at least two pubs on every street! And I've never seen anyone playing darts. Is it an out-of-Prague thing, do you think?

Where is the sport of lacrosse in popularity? I heard both indoor and field lacrosse are growing fast.

Depends :). There were darts in two of three bars we used to visit during high school. But now during high school we only visit bars where there are none :-(. You are more likely to find some in "sport-bars", beer bars, barrelhouses :),...

Table football/soccer is popular as well in sport-bars. (This one Joey and Chanler plays often in "Friends" TV serie)

This way: I do not know anyone playin lacrosse. I do not know any lacrosse team here in Czechia. I do not remember if there was any transmision of lacrosse match in any of TVs here.

However, there definatelly are lacrosse teams here, I know such a sport exists and how it look like and what it is going about, but now I cannot come at less popular sport here right now. Football (Am.), Rugby, Baseball, Softball, Floorball, Handball, Table Tennis, ... all are much popular than Lacrosse.

 OK, Cricket and Polo maybe.

I believe most of the lacrosse being played is in Prague. However, there are clubs spread out across the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic has put in a bid to host the 2011 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships.

Here is an old story from a few years back about the growth of the sport here.

The most popular lacrosse version in Czech Republic is definitely boxlacrosse /indoor lacrosse. There was live broadcast of one game of 2007 final series, you can watch it also at http://www.ceskatelevize.cz/vysilani/27 ... -ligy.html
There are teams in Pilsen, Prague (4 clubs), Pardubice, Kromeriz, Sumperk.

More emphasis will be put to fieldlacrosse in 2008 because European Championships will be held in August 2008 in Finland (Lahti).

For the record, next women's lacrosse World Cup (in 2009) will be hosted by the Czech Republic - it will be played in Prague in Slavia sport centre.
