    Jak Trautenberk prodával vodu
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DizFog9px-0
Popadni vědro a mazej k potoku! Eee, je vedro, potřebuju se zchladit. Hni sebou, hni. Kšic, kšc, darebáku, kšc. Jedeš, kšc. No počkej, darebáku…
Co je to za kanonádu? Vždyť mi skáčou hrnce na plotně.
Vyžeň ho, já tady umírám žízní a on si klidně pije mojí vodu.
Jestli do tejdne nesprchne, budou lidi vodu platit zlatem.
Kubo, hajnej, vy nakácíte duby, uděláte z nich sloupky a klády. Anče, ty zaskočíš ke Krakonošovi a poprosíš ho, aby nám shodil pár kamenů.
    Ano?!
Ano, jemnostpane. No a já zatím připravím plán hráze. A budou tu vodu platit zlatem :D
Jemnostpane Krakonoši, dobré odpoledne vynčuju, mám něco vyřídit a spoustu věcí povědět.
    A ty tomu, Anče, věříš?
Jemnostpane, ono se darmo neříká, když pánbůh dopustí i motyka spustí. A když přišlo to sucho, milostpán taky spustil jinou.
Jen aby. No, o pár kamenů horám neubude.
Ááh, to to voní.
Prodej vody. Jeden žejdlík - jeden krejcar, jeden soudek - čtyři krejcary. Jeden žejdlík - dva krejcary, jeden soudek - pět krejcarů.
    Milostpane!
    Ano.
Toho Krakonoše do zlata zasadit.
No, ono se ještě ukáže, kdo bude v tom zlatě zasazenej.
    Zaskočím do vsi.
Počkej! To musí udělat hajnej, to je úřední osoba. Vem křeslo a jdi. A vem s sebou studený kuře a pár lahví piva. A je to! Hajnej, oběhni vesnice a všude rozhlaš, ať si lidé pospíšej, že u mé hráze budeme prodávat vodu. Ať si pospíší, bude strašný sucho.
    Milostpane, to já neudělám.
    Co?!
Pojď Kubíčku, tomuhle pánovi bych už do smrti smťoucí ani kůrku chleba nepodala.
Když nám tuhle jemnostpán Krakonoš nabízí střechu nad hlavou, zbyde jí kousek i pro Vás.
A revír budeš mít celý hora.
    No, dobře, dobře, dobře.
Zato Anče, Kuba i hajný si žili šťastně a spokojeně. To proto, že jim žádný pán neotravoval krkonošské povětří.
    End.

    Krkonoš mountains fairytale.
How Trautenbek was selling the water.

It was a drought like nobody remembered. Springs ran dry, and in the streams there was barely a finger of water.
'So what's up with the water?'
'Kind sir, you will have to get by without it. I don't even have enough for cooking.'
'%*!!?#!!! What, you have the right to boss me around? Grab the bucket and go to the stream. Wow, it's hot. I need to cool down. Move yourself, move, chop, chop, you scoundrel. Go, n..., no wait, you rascal.'
'What's that shotgun for? My pots are jumping all over the stove???'
'Chase him away. I'm dying of thirst here and he's calmly drinking my water.'
'If you're talking about those couple of drops, kind sir, well, with the chasing away, let me bother with that.'
    Tweet, tweet, tweet,
'So you went to the lake for water?'
    Eeh.
'The stream is almost dried up. I had to scoop it out by hand. It's horrible. If it will not shower(rain) for a week, people will be paying gold for that water. The grass is dried up, and the corn is dust.'
'When times are bad, people must stick together. For that reason, I have decided that on my estate I will build a dam, so that we will have plenty of water.'
'Kind sir, that is the best we have heard from you all summer. And I will bring (to) you cold cream, since you are worried about the welfare of the people.'
'So, Kubo, warden, you get some oak trees, make some posts and beams out of them. Ance, you jump down to Krakonos and ask him if he can throw us a couple rocks.'
'Dear sir, it is not said lightly, that when God allows it even a hoe will fire.'
And since the drought came, the kind sir also shot something different.
    'Ok?'
'Ok, dear sir. And I in the meantime will prepare a plan for the dam. And they will pay gold for that water.'
'Pleasant, sir Krakonoš, I wish you a good afternoon. I have something to tell you and lots of things to talk about.'
    'So, let's sit down, alright?'
    'Here you go, drink up.'
'Thanks, that is mana from heaven.'
'So what's weighing on your heart, Anicko?'
'Dear, sir Krakonoš, that when times are bad for people, they ought to stick together, and so you decided that you will build a dam so everybody will have enough water. And I beg you that out of your kindness, you will roll down to us a couple rocks so we can quickly build a dam for ourselves.'
'And you believe it, Ance? '
Just, well, not for a mountain.
    'So..'
'Great, we respectfully thank you, dear sir Krakonoš'
'Well let's see if the others follow you.'
'This herbal drink will fortify you, kind sir, so work will go easier.'
'Ah, that' ringing. That is strong.''
'Well, if just half our plan worked, appreciative like Krakonos, it would be worth it.
'So with this change, where he will be thinking about the people. We will build a dam so nobody will have a lack of water.'
'Who knows, how that will change things.''
Water for sale. A tub, a bucket, a gallon, four quarts....
    'Dear sir!'
    'Yes?'
'Dear sir, that Krakonoš is a good fellow. He sent enough rocks for the whole dam, and they alone served the purpose. The dam is ready. That Krakonoš encased it in gold.'
'Well, it's yet to be seen, who will be encased in that gold. Well, put the armchair in the wheelbarrow so I won't have to stand a long time. But as I will tell the people, that I want to se.., that we want to get the water ready for them.'
    'I'll get right on it.'
'Wait! The gamekeeper must do it. He is an official person. Take the armchair and go. And take the cold chicken and a couple bottles of beer with you.'
'And that's it. Gamekeeper, run around the village and announce everywhere that the people should hurry, that at my dam we will be selling water. That they should hurry, the drought will be awful.'
'Dear sir, I will not do that.'
    'What?'
'Water belongs to everyone. I'm sorry, kind sir, that for a while there I believed that you too had a heart.
Let's go, little Kubo, I wouldn't sell (to) this man even a crust of bread even if he were dying.'
That is revolt. That is rebellion. Just go, You don't have anywhere to go anyway.'
'You all can come to me if you want. For honorable people there is enough room in my Krkonos mountains.'
    'Thank you, kind sir.'
'And what will I do without them, I mean they are like my own blood.'
'Come with us gamekeeper. Since this kind sir is offering a roof over our head, there is enough room for her and for you.'
'And you will have the whole mountain to enjoy.'
'I have not heard so much goodness from anyone in my whole life.'
    'Well, ok, ok, ok.'
'I am going to stat complaining that you are transforming me into a high and mighty lord.'
'I'm just saying, and I say again, that I tore down your dam.'
'What are you doing to me. You can't do that. Help, I'm drowning.'
He did not drown, but since he didn't have anybody to wait on him, whom he could order around day and night, it was for him, that little man, a very hard life. On the other and, ance, kuba and the ranger lived happily and contentedly. That because, no man bothered them in the krkonos air.'
So, so, the one who messes things up, he must also clean up, and so it goes in life until the end.

To je opravdu dobre nauceni. Moudry Pane Krakonos.

"panečku" isn't meant this way, it's more like a sigh and ephases.
You can use "panečku" or "pane jo"
    For example:
    "Panečku, to je dneska vedro".
"Pane jo, zase se rozbila televize"
It's more like "oh, man", "oh, boy"...
I'm sorry but can't explain it better :?

I don't have from this sentence that she meant 'kind sir instead of her to do the chasing away'.
'If you're talking about those couple of drops, kind sir, well, with the chasing away, let yourself bother with that.'
    Could be correct?
ráčit, uráčit is a complicated word. It can be use with meaning of 'please', but I'd use it in more honorific and restpectful speech.
Račte se posadit. Prosím, račte se posadit. = Prosím, posaďte se.
Račte si odložit. = Prosím, odložte si.
But it depends on the way (the intonation) you say it because it can have hidden (mostly sarcastic) meaning, e.g. Tak Vy jste se dnes uráčil přijít! Tak pán dnes řáčil přijít!
We waited 20 minutes before she finally condescended to appear. Čekali jsme 20 minut než se konečně (u)ráčila objevit.
Am I right with the meaning of condescend?

IIRC, in his translation of Good Soldier Svejk, Cecil Parrot uses the the construction "to take the pleasure of [doing something]", as in the classic anecdote:

    - James, why is my Lady late for the dinner?
    - Yesterday you took the pleasure of shooting her, my Lord.
    - Oh, did I? I didn't expect her to be upset about it for such a long time.

You are right, račit-uračit, is a verb with some possible hidden intent. :D

I think I get it though, the inflection might be to exagerate the length of the word.

    I think we would say..
So after three hours your highness finally decided to show up.
    Yes, that is sarcastic.
Not sure that 'condescending' works there.
descend...to go downward.....condescending...maybe...act of belittling somenone, putting someone down, pretending to be your better than someon else.

Well, look at the great job you did.(said with total sarcasm, the intonation let's it be known that the speaker means the exact opposite)
    An appropriate response could be.
'Don't be condescending to me, you blankety blank. If you think you can do a better job, than do it yourself.

If you're talking about those couple of drops, kind sir, well, with the chasing away, let 'yourself' bother with that.' (or, you bother with that)

but... from the video, I get the idea that the woman is trying to protect the bird from the man, so she suggests that she will chase the bird away(so he will not hurt it).
Maybe I missed the intent of the conversation.

Can be used this way, e.g. Jezte a pijte co hrdlo ráčí. Feel free to eat and drink whatever you like.

She wanted the bird keep drinking, she didn't mind the couple of drops, especially when was so hot and the bird should have been thirsty.

    "Zde, pane."
"Děkuji, Jeane. Jeane, další pohár vody, prosím."
    "Zde, pane."
"Děkuji, Jeane. Jeane, ještě jeden pohár vody, prosím."
    "Zde, pane."

The anecdote was unrelated to Švejk.

We don't use the phrase "to be late", resp we have a verb "opozdit se" or the negative phrase "nebýt včas" (= not to be on time) for it.

It is possibly because of our verbal aspects. In fact, your sentence means that the lady is present, albeit late.

The translation of the verb "ráčit" is really peculiar. Another usage of "ráčit" from the movie Vyšší princip:

Ráčte really has a lot of meanings.

A proč bych to udělal?

Halo, my se známe.

No, když jsi tak chytrý, ráčte si to udělat sám. Já ti už nepomáhám.

Ten vtíp....that made me laugh...since we were talking about 'ráčte',
I figured the last line would be something like...
Ráčte si dostat sám ty liný tvore.

Jdi hned do královniny ložnice a žádej, aby sešla. Nechci se večeřet sám.
    K vaším službám, pane.
    A přines mi sklenice viny.

myslet X pomyslet (I think that myslet is "longer" activity, opinion X pomyslet "shorter, just..." *)

Když dobrák Krakonoš shodil ty kameny, aby měli hezký hraz a spoustou čerstvé studené vody, ten Trautenberk ji chtěl prodávat místo, aby ji sdělit s ostatnimi.

    Thanks for all the corrections.,
But I have strayed from the original subject, Mr. Trautenberk and his selfish plan to share the water.
He tried to take advantage of Krakonoš's good will.
When good fellow Krakonoš threw down those rocks so they would have a nice dam and lots of fresh, cool, water, that Trautenberk wanted to sell it instead of share it with the others.
At the end of Krkonoš Fairytale Krokonoš tore down the dam, Mr. Trautenberk almost drowned and the others lived happily on the mountain, which was actually like paradise on earth, for the rest of their happy lives.
That is a really good moral.
Don't be greedy, share with others.

Contractions can only be used between pronouns (I, you, she, he, it, we and they) and forms of the verb 'to be' (am, is, are, was, were)........ and 'to have' (have, has, had) when they connect with 'not'.
    I'm, she's, he's, it's, they're, we're
and when they are attached to 'not', to negate meaning
    haven't, hasn't, hadn't
    isn't, aren't, wasn't, weren't
...and 'can' when attached to 'not'....cannot...can't
...and those pronouns when attached to the conditional 'would'.
Example...They would be here, but they cannot find a ride...
They'd be here, but they can't find a ride.
Pronouns can also contract with 'have', when 'have' is used with a participle (a past tense form)
We've only got three classes this year. I've got to(I must) go home. They've been here two hours.
    Never....that're, or which're
That's about the extent of my knowledge of grammar regarding contractions.
Oh yea, 'would' and 'should' can combine with 'have'
They should've been here by now. Paul said, they would've been here, but they got a flat tire.
Contractions are more colloquial than formal.

Račej se k nám vrátit co možna nejdříve. Dokonce jsi neodešel a už mi chybíš.
Sdílet jedovaté houby. To mi připomíná film. Ten okouzleny(The beguiled).

Thanks for your explanation. I should've known that.
*ráčej - As kibitz's said I'm also not dead sure about this form.
In this case I'd use "koukej" instead. Koukej se k nám vrátit co možná nejdříve. I feel it as a kind of wish and command (2 in 1). Oh, could make commercials :)
    - Koukej nám psát. Ne, že na nás zapomeneš.

    ** chránit (protect) - verb
    - Sluneční brýle chrání oči před poškozením.
    - Chrání ho policejní hlídka.

    ** zachránit (save, rescue)
    - Byl jsem zachráněn horskou službou.
    - Nesete pivo!? Sláva, jsem zachráněn.

okouzlený, okouzlená, krásný, krásná, moudrý, moudrá... I'd say that if you use long vowel in adjectives, can't make mistake.

Coorect form of imperative form the verb "ráčit" is

    rač!, račte!, not "ráčej"
older form also "račiž", "račtež" (not used, but can be found in older texts)

even the usage of "ráčit" it out of date and used now often only when joking 8)
