I went to czech several weeks ago and now wonder what was it I saw many bakeries in Prag. That was small round flat bread with cheeze or poppy-seed filling on top of each. There are nuts on the top sometimes. It looks like a tart ,but they use yeasted dough for a plate . They sometimes display them in a showwindow. Anyone know what this is ? :?:
Thank you very much for reply. Maybe another question comes to me. They are called "Bohemian Tart " or "Moravian Tart " in English ? I think they are several kinds of these things depending what is put on top, such as poppyseed filling or cream chesse filling or so. They recognize it as a Bohemian or a Moravian from what 's on the top ? Do you know any special name that's for the special filling on the top ? And I saw also the pastry with filling not on the top but inside of the buns. Sorry for many questions. You can skip any of these questions if it is confusing. But thanks for any help and any information.
I haven't tried this recipe yet, but am planning to... it's been a while since I've baked them. http://www.angelfire.com/tx5/texasczech ... recipe.htm In the US, this is often spelled kolache(s) and can be compared in appearance to tiny inflatable life rafts, but containing fruit filling instead of shipwreck survivors. Susan
