    1 pound kale
    2 rolls
    1 medium onion, grated
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 egg
    2 tablespoons flour
1-1/4 cups (or so) bread crumbs
    2/3 cup shortening
boil kale in salted water for 10 minutes. drain. soak rolls in water andd squeeze dry. chop kale and rolls together finely, or grind. add onion, salt and pepper, egg, flour, and enough bread crumbs to make a soft dough. form into patties, roll in the remaining bread crumbs, and brown in shortening. serves 4.

Interesting - the original veggie burger.

I remember my mother making a "karbanatek" using various vegetables. Would anyone have that recipe?
