i like brat 2. our hero goes to america and kicks some serious american ---. oh yes, don't mess with our hero. i couldn't wait to see the second one after enjoying brat. brat 2 just blew me (and most russians) away. it was a huge hit when it came out in russia.

    classic line...
    Lisa: Are you all gangsters?
    Dasha: No, we are Russians.

we also learn that russians don't like black people. wow, now that is a surprise . the russians loved the film.

btw, i am not russian. i am pure american  .

I've seen probably close to 3/4 of those you've listed, and liked most of them, particularly "Кавказская пленница" (Prisoner of the Caucasus), "Операция Ы" (Operation Y), "Бриллиантовая рука" (The Diamond Arm), "Иван Васильевич меняет профессию" (Ivan Vasilievich changes his occupation), and "Ирония судьбы, или С лёгким паром!" (Irony of fate or with light steam!). Some of Tarkovskiy's films were a little tough for me to sit through, though.

Which "Zolushka" movie do you mean? I know that there was a Czech film that was very popular in Russia (Tři orísky pro Popelku--"Три орешка для Золушки"). Is this the one, or or is it another?

I saw tons of Soviet films in my childhood.
    Some remarkable ones:

    Choock and Gueck.
The brave schoolgirl. (it is not a blue movie)
    Timur and his team.
    Operation Y. (comedy)
    The amphibian man. (sci-fi)
    The planet of storms. (sci-fi)
The rays of Engineer Garin. (sci-fi)
Secret of two oceans. (thriller about submarines and perfidious imperialists)
The striped navigation. (comedy about tigers on board ship)

    etc.

    Some recent comedies:

Peculiarities of the national hunting. Особенности национальной охоты.
Peculiarities of the national fishing. Особенности национальной рыбалки.

And of course: Ну погоди, Заяц!
