Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knew of any websites or information on the Czech culture such as clothing, hats, traditions, etc. My son is in 2nd grade and has to do a report and a paper doll representing someone from a the Czech Republic. He had to choose the country based on a close relative that was born in another country. His great grandfather (my grandfather) was from Czechoslovakia, but he has sinced passed and we are trying to research this information.
It is a second grade project so pictures, websites, and any information that you all have for us would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you! |

Ruzete, I just hope that you are aware that your grandfather did not wear clothing seen in links posted. There are national/regional costumes only, not something person in that time would wear. Or at least not as often as American Indian wears feather headdress in USA. |

Thanks for all of your help! We realized that the everyday dress is like that of the Americans. We may make his paper doll with costumes used for festivals and information that you all have shared. I also found some information in an old encyclopedia that I had.
You all have been a great web resource for my son's project. Your help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks again! |

+There are two good children's books that I have found that provide a
fair amount of information about the Czech Republic and the customs of
the Czechs. They are "Czech Republic-Enchantment of the World",
JoAnn Milivojevic from Strand Book Store, at www.strandbooks.com
price $17.50, and Countries of the World -Czech Republic" Lindy Roudx,
also available from Strand at $14.50. Finally the National Czech and
Slovak Museum, I believe is located in Cedar Rapid, Iowa may be
helpful and has a some Czech Coloring books, or cutouts with Czech
kroje from the different regions of the country. _________________ Rihacek |
