Greetings!
I am looking for various 'pet' names for grandfather such as grandpa, gramps - whatever might be used in Czech. I would also like to know how to pronounce these.
Thanks in advance!

Děda, dědeček, dědé (obsolete), děd (poetic)
But my knowledge isn't sufficient to write how to pronounce. _________________ When in trouble or in doubt,

Once again we 'meet' Eso! Thank you... I'll wait for information regarding how to pronounce these.

Eso - sorry about the duplication! I found I had asked this question before and you even answered it! Back a few months ago. I was negligent and never checked back to see all of the answers!
Here's what Jana had to say:

| Common is "děda" (approx. pronunciation djehdah); vocative - used when addressing people - is "dědo" (djehdoh). However, I read in another of your posts that your ancestors were born in southern Moravia - Zlín and Velká nad Veličkou, so it would be "staříček" (stahrzeeczech) or "staříčku" (stahrzeeczkuh) there. |
Thanks for BOTH answers from you! |
